OPTIONS:
Fire extinguishers are made of highly recyclable materials like aluminum and steel. Do NOT put your fire extinguisher in your curbside recycling bin. The pressurized container is explosive and can cause injury when compacted in a truck or in machinery at a material recovery facility.
Take fire extinguishers (under 40 pounds) to a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center. Centers are free to OC residents and open five days a week, Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. (except during rain and major holidays).
