QUICK LINKS

Welcome to the OC Recycle Guide. Need to get rid of it but not sure where it goes? Search an A-Z list of recycling options for Orange County residents.

Clothing and Shoes

CalRecycle defines textiles as clothing and shoes. Consider donating items or recycling them when able. If needed, old and unusable textiles are ultimately waste and go in the curbside trash cart.

Donation options:

Old clothes and shoes can often be given to local donation centers or thrift store. Some church groups and school organizations may also accept these items for donations to families in need and mission trips. If looking to donate old towels and blankets, check with local pet shelters. More information below.

Recycling options:

Textile recycling varies by area and options could be limited. Goodwill stores may or may not accept clothing for recycling, be sure to call ahead to confirm. Below are options.

  • I:CO (short for I:Collect) is a respected global solutions provider and innovator for collection, reuse and recycling of used clothing and shoes.

Disposal

If there are no options for your old clothing and shoes, they can go into your curbside trash cart. Clothing and shoes cannot go into the recycling bin.
